Section 4.5.3 says:
+------------++--------------------------------------------------------+ | || Event | | ++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ |Prev State ||Receive | Receive | Prune- | Expiry Timer| | ||Join(S,G) | Prune(S,G) | Pending | Expires | | || | | Timer | | | || | | Expires | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ | ||-> J state | -> NI state | - | - | |NoInfo (NI) ||start Expiry | | | | | ||Timer | | | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ | ||-> J state | -> PP state | - | -> NI state | |Join (J) ||restart | start Prune- | | | | ||Expiry Timer | Pending | | | | || | Timer | | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ |Prune- ||-> J state | -> PP state | -> NI state | -> NI state | |Pending (PP)||restart | | Send Prune- | | | ||Expiry Timer | | Echo(S,G) | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+
It should say:
+------------++--------------------------------------------------------+ | || Event | | ++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ |Prev State ||Receive | Receive | Prune- | Expiry Timer| | ||Join(S,G) | Prune(S,G) | Pending | Expires | | || | | Timer | | | || | | Expires | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ | ||-> J state | - | - | - | |NoInfo (NI) ||start Expiry | | | | | ||Timer | | | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ | ||-> J state | -> PP state | - | -> NI state | |Join (J) ||restart | start Prune- | | | | ||Expiry Timer | Pending | | | | || | Timer | | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+ |Prune- ||-> J state | - | -> NI state | -> NI state | |Pending (PP)||restart | | Send Prune- | | | ||Expiry Timer | | Echo(S,G) | | +------------++-------------+--------------+-------------+-------------+
Notes:
At the intersection of “NoInfo (NI)” and “ReceivePrune(S,G)” it is noted that there is a change of state to “NI”, which is the current state – this is unnecessary. At the intersection of “PrunePending (PP)” and “ReceivePrune(S,G)” it is noted that there is a change of state to “PP”, which is the current state – this is unnecessary.
--VERIFIER NOTES--
It is perfectly possible to parse this with a basic knowledge of the protocol states and events.
