Section 2.1 says:
The gateway can then respond for host B, saying that the network address for host B is that of the gateway itself.
It should say:
The gateway can then respond for host A, saying that the network address for host B is that of the gateway itself.
Notes:
I'm a bit confused about the sentence :) I think there should be "A" instead of "B". Next phrase says that host A sees a reply message from gateway, therefore gateway have to send that reply message to A in the previous sentence.

Since A and B are on separate networks, the gateway responds *on behalf of host B*.
