To paraphrase Mark Twain: "Reports of its death have been greatly 
exaggerated." :)

Plain text is still going to be an output format of the XML canonical 
format. Additionally for formats such as PDF and HTML, it is a stylistic 
matter whether the prose text gets indented relative to the section 
headings or other things.

"absolute" left/center/right makes it clear that the author wants 
absolute positioning, not positioning relative to the encapsulating block.
