I strongly support Martin's concerns about the result of this being embarrassing for the IETF, and looking terrible at the same time. If the IETF is the last standards organization to spell peoples' names correctly, that does not look good. If the concern is searchability by search engines, they will find things in the XML and non-displaying elements in the HTML and PDF. People who read the text version will see the correct spelling but won't be able to search *that format* for the ASCII spelling, but can still search the other versions.
