Source of RFC: Legacy

Errata ID: 8226
Status: Verified
Type: Editorial
Publication Format(s) : TEXT

Reported By: Mattia Marchese
Date Reported: 2025-01-01
Verifier Name: RFC Editor
Date Verified: 2025-01-06

Section 3.1 says:

Control Bits: 8 bits (from left to right):

    URG: Urgent Pointer field significant
    ACK: Acknowledgment field significant
    EOL: End of Letter
    RST: Reset the connection
    SYN: Synchronize sequence numbers
FIN: No more data from sender

It should say:

Control Bits: 6 bits (from left to right):

    URG: Urgent Pointer field significant
    ACK: Acknowledgment field significant
    EOL: End of Letter
    RST: Reset the connection
    SYN: Synchronize sequence numbers
FIN: No more data from sender

Notes:

The "control bits" field includes 6 bits as listed, while the line says they are 8 bits.
I might be mistaken, if so please tell me, but I assume it is a typing error due to distraction.
