RFC Errata
RFC 6987, "OSPF Stub Router Advertisement", September 2013
Note: This RFC has been updated by RFC 8770
Source of RFC: ospf (rtg)
Errata ID: 4685
Status: Rejected
Type: Technical
Publication Format(s) : TEXT
Reported By: Alexander Okonnikov
Date Reported: 2016-05-06
Rejected by: Alia Atlas
Date Rejected: 2016-07-13
Section 4 says:
It should say:
(At the end of the section) If the stub router is located in transit area, crossed by virtual link(s), latter will become inoperational in case the stub router is on path between two virtual link endpoints - either due to only path in transit area or due to topology changes which move stub router onto this path.
Notes:
Virtual links become inoperational in case path metric between two endpoints is > 0xffff. Path metric of two or more links, one of which has MaxLinkMetric, will inevitably exceed value 0xffff.
--VERIFIER NOTES--
The suggested text is technically correct, however it is really providing additional information rather than an actual errata. If this RFC is revised, then a discussion with the working group would be appropriate.
