Section 6 says:
The verifier processes this certificate in the usual ways, including checking that it has not expired, that the chain is valid back to a trusted certification authority (CA), and that it does not appear on revocation lists. Once the certificate is acquired, it MUST be validated following the procedures in RFC 3280 [9].
It should say:
The verifier processes this certificate in the usual ways, including checking that it has not expired, that the chain is valid back to a trusted certification authority (CA), and that it does not appear on revocation lists. To fetch certificate chains, the certificate can use the SubjectInfoAccess and techniques such as RFC 4387 can be used to retrieve the chain. Once the certificate is acquired, it MUST be validated following the procedures in RFC 3280 [9].
