Just to add a small wrinkle: IF the objective is to define a new 
format for the "pretty" (printed) version of an RFC then we should NOT 
have double spaces between each sentence. Double spaces is an old 
"typewriter" convention specifically designed to improve readability 
when using "typewriter" fonts (fixed width). The accepted typesetting 
standard is to use SINGLE spaces between sentences since variable-
width fonts are designed/kerned to look best typeset using that
convention.
