Hi, Bob and John,

I think the idea of supporting additional image representations without
requiring an entire document copy is useful; it retains the benefit of
having ASCII text be primary, while allowing additional resolution in
the images.

I do prefer, however, if the ASCII file were the primary version, as is
currently the case for .txt+.ps+.pdf. If we're going to allow non-ASCII
items to be primary, there's no reason to do this via a highly uncommon
means (multiple files, bundling).

I.e., I support this only if the ASCII art version is required and is
considered primary. There's plenty of utility in allowing figure images
without requiring an entire document image, and that ought to (IMO) be
the focus of this change.
